Exciting Announcement

OccMedCIC is merging with BBJI (Boston Bone & Joint Institute). Specifically, the clinical services and injury care aspects going forward will be performed as BBJI OccMed. Dr. John Burress will serve as Chief of BBJI OccMed. Dr. Burress will retain OccMedCIC d/b/a OccMed Consulting, which will focus on disability management consulting.

BBJI OccMed seeks to re-image the care of injured workers in Massachusetts. The care delivery model so important to OccMedCIC client companies will be leveraged over an expanded geography and capture key synergies including removing silos of care and facilitating referrals to and from orthopedic surgeons. Reverse referrals post-surgery are an encouraged practice in other states to facilitate RTW. Sites will include a downtown Boston office, Waltham, Dedham, and Woburn.

Certifying Examinations

We perform DOT (truck drivers, hoisting license), FAA (pilots both airline and general aviation), Coast Guard/other maritime evaluations. We have experienced providers and capable support staff to efficiently meet your needs in a timely fashion.

OSHA Mandated Surveillance Evaluations

OccMedCIC can efficiently perform lead, asbestos, and silica evaluations. When chest X-rays are needed for groups of workers, we batch those exams and have X-ray available in suite.

Urgent Care of New Injuries

We excel in providing the right care up-front for new injuries. We develop and communicate care plans including modified duty and self-care exercises at first visit to optimize recovery.

Disability Management — Defined

Disability management consists of formal and informal consultation between stakeholders and Dr. Burress. Informal consultation may occur in the form of a phone call, text, or email exchange between Dr. Burress and an employer representative or an attorney regarding a specific case or issue. Formal consultation may entail a record review and report generation, FFD consultation F2F, or an IME (Independent Medical Evaluation).
